As part of the fundraising for 2007, over £5000 has been donated to a range of charities. This includes £1,500 for the Sheffield Leukaemia and Blood Disorders Appeal, £1,000 for Cancer Research U.K., £1,000 for the Brian Wyers Memorial Fund which is currently raising money for Trinity Palliative Care Services, £500 to the The Phoenix Association, £500 to St. Luke’s Church, Lodge Moor for local charitable work, £300 for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, £200 for the David Clover organisation as well as a number of smaller donations.

The programme for the Summer Musical Cavalcade at the City Hall on Sunday, 11th May, 2008, is now finalised and I am busy with the musical arrangements. Many of you will know that, despite having only come out of hospital shortly before, Derek Dooley was to present the cheque for £1500 to the Leukaemia and Blood Disorders Appeal at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital on 6th March. Sadly, he passed away the day before. Derek's story touched the hearts of Sheffield people whether football was their interest or not. He was a popular guest at Fellowship Concerts. Indeed, his determination to overcome adversity was a shining light for us all to persevere when times were difficult. I know he is thought of very well in the hearts of many, many people and in recognition of this, I have written a small but meaningful and uplifting tribute to him which will draw the first half to a close. In addition, Gary will sing New York! New York! to finish. This was one of Derek's favourites.

Unfortunately, it has not been possible to organise a "Come Dancing, Sheffield" ballroom dancing event for the summer. The next dance should be in February, 2009.

We all look forward to seeing you again on the 11th May.
